People expect me to be the expert when it comes to Vegas. Sure, I’ve been dozens of times and that would make sense, however my trips are work trips and are a bit more constricted. That said, I offer all the tips I have for you that revolve around casinos. Please share YOUR tips on our Facebook Page, and I may use them to update this blog!
 
Where to Stay?
Hotels can go for $19 to $1900 a night. So first you have to set a budget. Like most people, you probably would prefer to save some money on a room in order to bump up that gambling budget instead. Check if your local casinos have any affiliations with Vegas casinos, because you may get your stay for free (as I did on my first trip to Vegas!). Then compare prices on their own sites, expedia.com, travelzoo.com and elsewhere to find the best deal. Don’t forget about the hidden (in my opinion, RUDE) resort fees which can cost you up to an additional $50 a night. Then there are parking fees on top of that. So, research the fine details before you book!
 
To save a little more, plan your visit on weekdays and avoid major holidays, conventions and events. If it’s your first time in Vegas, I strongly suggest you stay on either the Vegas Strip or downtown on Fremont Street. That way, you have a plethora of options at your disposal and within walking distance. On the Strip however, it can take you ten minutes walking between casinos, so give yourself a lot of time. I love to just walk in and out of each casino playing a slot or two that are unique to that property.

Where to Party?
If it’s a party you’re after, downtown has the best atmosphere with outdoor concerts and bars and at a budget you can surely afford. If you’re more into nightclubs and feeling fancy, then hit up the numerous clubs on the strip in casinos like Hakkasan at MGM Grand, Drai at The Cromwell, Omnia at Caesars, Marquee at Cosmopolitan and more. When it’s the pool season, I love both MGM and Cosmopolitan for their pool parties!
 
What’s Unique at the Casinos?
If you are a fan of fancy and high end décor, then be sure to check out the Bellagio Gardens (and their famous outdoor fountains of course) which change with every season, the carousel of flowers at The Wynn, the Venetian with its canals with singing gondoliers and beautiful landscaped indoors and outdoors, the Chandelier Bar at Cosmopolitan, the New York city backdrop at NYNY and the Eiffel tower replica at Paris Las Vegas.

Head on upstairs at The D for its old school gaming collection including the last remaining original Fortune Cup horse racing game; Fremont Casino has a lot of coin operated poker machines; Cosmopolitan has breathtaking views from the balconies on all of their hotel rooms; Golden Nugget has a water slide that goes through a shark tank; and The Flamingo has real flamingos.
 
Where are Non-Smoking Options?
The Sand Dollar bar is the only completely non-smoking gaming establishment and features live jazz. The Signature at MGM Grand, Vdara, Four Seasons, Delano and Platinum Hotel and Spa are non-smoking hotels (non gaming). Bellagio, Harrah’s, MGM Grand, Venetian and Palazzo have designated non-smoking areas….though they’re too tiny and smoke filled. To avoid the smoke as best you can, the newer casinos on the strip are your best bet during the morning and day time. Older casinos had much shorter ceilings and get quite smokey. Regardless of day, cigar smoking is also allowed and will leave you short on breath.
 
Where to Eat?
People LOVE their buffets, but in Vegas you better take out a second mortgage first. That said, the standouts for me include Wicked Spoon at Cosmopolitan and The Buffet at The Wynn. All restaurants at the Wynn actually offer a separate Vegan menu as well. Having stayed at Cosmopolitan a lot I’ve come to really enjoy their Rose, Rabbit, Lie which includes live entertainment and delicious foods, as well as their Secret Pizza (shhhh, it’s a secret!). My favorite steakhouse lies within Plaza Casino downtown at Oscar’s which offers a beautiful view of downtown Vegas – located at the end of the strip beside the newly anticipated Circa Casino.
 
This list is not complete and can only be done so with recommendations from you. As I mentioned, I mainly come to Vegas to gamble at a single casino at a time for work, and don’t always pay attention to all the fine details. Having just posted our 100th Group Slot Pull on Saturday, I am going to share with you all stats from our group pulls so you can be better informed. Some numbers may shock or surprise you, or maybe not at all. 

First off, it's important to remember that slot machines are designed by nature to make you lose. The games we play are approximately set to give you back somewhere between 85 and 95% of your money (depending on the game and denomination). So it is expected that our slot pulls fall within those numbers. Now for the fun part, MATH!!

How Many Group Pulls have you held?

What were the biggest payout percentage group pulls?
2525% payback on the Rudies Cruise where we turned $20 in $505 each. 
278% payback at Harrahs in Laughlin where we made $278 from $100.
265% payback at San Manuel in Highland CA making $265 from $100.

How Many were WINNING with a profit?

What were the lowest payout percentage group pulls?
Well, this is difficult to answer, because my rules have changed from when we first started the slot pulls. We used to only play for doubling our money, as opposed to just having a set number of spins. So some of our original ones we cashed out with nothing! Aside from those, there are 2 standouts that were abysmal! 
2% payback at San Manuel turning $100 into $2 a person.
7% payback at Cosmo when put in $200 and got back $14 each on Lightning Link!


NOW, for the real numbers. What is the average amount of payback you can expect from a Brian Christopher Group Slot Pull???

$200 Group Slot Pull - Penny to Dollar Denomination - 83% payback (48 group pulls)
slightly lower than industry average. As time has progressed and we have figured out what works with the groups, we have been doing better. The past 10 Group Pulls we averaged a 104% payback!

$500 Group Slot Pull -  Dollar to $5 Denomination - 93.8% (16 group pulls)
slightly higher than industry average

$1000 Group Slot Pull - $1 to $100 Denomination - 85.7% (5 group pulls)
lower than industry average, however it is noted we've only held 5 of these with our first two being the worst ones. The past 3 group pulls averaged 97% payback as we learn what works best!
